Oleoylethanolamide(OEA)

CimaSci promotes health and well-being through the discovery and development of nutraceutical ingredient which can be integrated into dietary supplements, nutritional production, and medicine.

Oleoylethanolamide (OEA) is an endocannabinoid analog that belongs to a family of endogenous acylethanolamides. Increasing evidence suggests that OEA may act as an endogenous neuroprotective factor and participate in the control of reward-related behaviors. Also, it has been described as a peripherally acting agent that reduces food intake and body weight gain.

Molecular Weight: 325.5
Molecular Formula: C20H39NO2

How does OEA Work?

OEA works to activate something called PPAR and simultaneously ramps up fat-burning and decreases fat storage. When you eat, OEA levels increase and your appetite decreases when the sensory nerves that link to your brain tell it that you're full.

Oleoylethanolamide is a potent endogenous ligand for Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors α(PPARα), nuclear receptors involved in the transcriptional regulation of lipid metabolism, inflammation, and neuroplasticity. Further study demonstrated that treatment with OEA markedly increased the expressions of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and PPARα. It has been confirmed that OA treatment can exert functional recovery of cognitive impairments and neuroprotective effects against cerebral ischemic insult in rats via triggering of neurogenesis in the hippocampus, which supports the therapeutic use of OEA for cerebral ischemia.

Pharmacological augmentation of endocannabinoid signaling can produce both antidepressant and anxiolytic behavioral Anandamide represents the most studied compound mainly for its ability to act as an endogenous ligand for cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1). A large body of evidence has clearly demonstrated that the stimulation of this receptor exerts powerful effects on energy balance, increasing appetitive drive and promoting adiposity. OEA exerts opposite effects on feeding regulation and lipid metabolism. OEA suppresses appetite by stimulating satiety and that its profile of action might be predictive of safer effects in humans as a novel antiobesity treatment.

Functions
  • OEA--Promote neurogenesis and neuroplasticity after focal cerebral
  • OEA--Anti-depressant
  • OEA--Anti-obesity
  • OEA--Anti-atherosclerosis
  • OEA--Decrease appetite

Safety
  • OEA original material is natural palm oil
  • OEA  suppresses appetite by stimulating satiety and shows safer effects in humans as a novel antiobesity treatment.
  • OEA  is different with the endocannabinoid, can modulate food intake control through interaction with PPAR-alpha
